Apple will make radical changes to its 2026 range of devices and leaked details show that it’s going to be the most expensive iPhone in Apple history.
Apple could reportedly skip standard iPhone 18 series next year Rather, the September 2026 event is expected to be a show of three models only: iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and newcomer iPhone Fold.
Cheaper versions such as the iPhone Air 2 and iPhone 18e should follow in spring of next year.
⭐ Leaked Price
Now, a new leak from Investing hints that the iPhone Fold could have a starting price tag of $2,399 making it more expensive than all of the foldable phones currently available.
Previous estimates indicated that the cost could range between $2,000 and $2,500, but the newest leak strongly suggests it’ll be towards the higher end.
📌 Why It’s So Expensive
There are several drivers to the rising price, analysts say:
- Rising global smartphone component costs
- RAM now 75% more expensive than last year
- 5–7% rise anticipated for total materials costs
- High-cost foldable OLED panels
- Premium hinge mechanism
- Lightweight internals
- Apple however is believed to be demanding that the crease across middle screen is removed, a task which would mean more costly Samsung panels.
📉 Industry Forecast
Smartphone shipments could fall 4% in 2026, and global iPhone sales might also decline. But the iPhone Fold alone will ship 5.4 million units in 2026, and a total of 15.4 million units, according to UBS’s estimates.
