Samsung is finally refreshing its A7x series with the Samsung Galaxy A77 5G and is set to be the first new model of its kind since the launch of the Galaxy A73 this year.
In particular, a prototype of the upcoming Galaxy A77 5G has just surfaced on Geekbench boasting 8GB RAM, Android 16—alongside an all-new “mystery” chip that is likely to have its DNA derived from Samsung’s yet-to-be-announced Exynos 2400 family.
But preliminary details indicate this chip is a cut-down version, so the A77 would sit in the upper-midrange bracket rather than challenging Samsung’s flagships.
Expected Chip Setup
- high-efficiency Prime cores @ 2.78GHz
- performance cores @ 2.3GHz
- efficiency cores @ 1.82GHz
The CPU is still deca-core as in the Exynos 2400 and 2400e but with lower frequencies. This suggests that Samsung may opt for a cut-down Exynos 2400 version to maintain costs but deliver strong performance.
The Galaxy A77 5G, along those notes, will reportedly be a huge step-up for Samsung’s upper mid-range offerings in the 2024-25 period that debuts (or rather brings back) the once-popular A7x line of phones.
Further information about the camera system, battery and design will likely emerge when the device arrives for official certification.
